Sowohl 4 alpha- als auch 4 beta-Cyclobamipin imitieren die Konformationsisomere des unverstrebten Bamipins, die durch Umklappen des Sechsrings und durch N-Inversion möglich sind. Bamipin ist ein H1-Antihistaminikum, das im Handel als Lactat oder Hydrochlorid unter dem Namen Soventol® Anwendung findet. Protonierung von 4 alpha- und 4 beta-Cyclobamipin führt zu den entsprechenden Salzen. Die Konformation der Salze wird NMR-spektroskopisch bestimmt. H1-antihistaminische Wirksamkeitstests ergeben eine 14 mal höhere Wirksamkeit für das 4 alpha-Isomere im Vergleich zu Bamipin. 4 beta-Cyclobamipin besitzt dagegen nur 40% Wirkpotential.
