  • In the first part of this work five Brønsted acidic, mesoporous organosilicas were synthesized, four of them based on a BTEB-PMO and one based on a SBA-15 material. They showed high specific surface areas between 581 and 710 m2/g and ordered 2D hexagonal structures. Three of these materials were investigated in their properties as catalysts. While their activity in condensation reactions was moderate to little, the SO3H-BTEB-PMO was highly active in the THP protection of isoamyl alcohol and phenol and led to total conversions after 10 min in the presence of 0.1 mol-% of the catalyst. In the corresponding deprotection reactions the activity of this material was comparable to the activity of pTsOH. The catalyst could be reused for several times without severe loss of activity. In the second part of this work the SO3H-BTEB-PMO was used to immobilize four cationic functionalized phenothiazines. The phenothiazines were all synthesized in a cooperation in the context of the DFG project TH 550/20-1 from M.Sc. Hilla Khelwati in the group of Prof. Dr. T. J. J. Müller at the HHU Düsseldorf. Following this strategy, new redox active hybrid materials with specific surface areas between 500 and 688 m2/g, a 2D hexagonal structure and loadings of phenothiazines between 167 and 243 µmol/g were obtained. The conversion to their stable radical cations was conducted by exposing them to light, where even after ten month of storage in the dark, radicals could be detected in only slighter decreased intensities. Two additional cationic functionalized phenothiazines were immobilized onto BTEB nanoparticles following the same principle as before. They showed specific surface areas of 335 and 565 m2/g and loadings of phenothiazines of 394 and 137 µmol/g respectively. The two remaining phenothiazines with triethoxysilyl functionalities were also grafted onto BTEB nanoparticles. They had to be oxidized chemically to obtain their stable radical cations. It was shown that when the cationic functionalized phenothiazines were exposed to light the environment inside the pores is essential for the high stability of these radical cations. In case of the last two hybrid materials, there was no ionic environment and therefore no stable radical cations were obtained only by exposing samples of these materials to light. The organosilicas with the grafted phenothiazines showed specific surface areas of 172 and 920 m2/g and loadings of phenothiazines of 809 and 88.9 µmol/g respectively. The third part of this work deals with the synthesis of a epi-quinine-BTEB-PMO and its application in catalysis in the Mannich reaction of ketimines with 2,4-pentanedione as the nucleophile. High conversions between 73 and 98% and stereoselectivities between 69 and 98% ee were obtained. The mesoporous catalyst had a specific surface area of 812 m2/g, a 2D hexagonal structure and a loading of active centers of 151 µmol/g. In the fourth and last part of this work the possibility of incorporating vanadium and aluminium species inside the BTEB-PMO scaffold and to therefore obtain catalysts for the epoxidation of olefines was investigated. A series of materials was synthesized but all of them bared no ordered structure and were only active in the epoxidation of (Z)-cyclooctene.
