Kombinierte Mobilität gestalten: Die Schnittstelle ÖPNV - CarSharing

Shaping Combined Mobility: The Interface Public Transport - CarSharing

  • In the empirical research project, recommendations for the design of the interface Public Transport - CarSharing are given. In order to determine effects and factors of success of Combined Services, the adaptation process, the mobility behaviour, and customer satisfaction were researched within the context of model projects in Mannheim and Aachen. The results prove a win-win-situation for all involved. Public Transport (PT) through Car-Sharing can bond existing customers and addresses new customers at the same time. How well CarSharing is known and the number of customers can be improved or increased, respectively. CarSharing is suitable as a supplement to Public Transport. The corporate bodies with responsibility for ordering and financing of PT as well as the transport companies must play an active role in the cooperation and integrate CarSharing into the public transport offers. With the enlargement of the "Green Modes" (walking, cycling, PT) through the 4th column CarSharing and the consistent interlinkage of these modes, a fundamental contribution to urban traffic, which is compatible with the environment and the surroundings, is achieved. At the same time the element of CarSharing makes Public Transport more attractive.
